Sunset On The Chesapeake
The Chesapeake Bay is a national treasure. An especially beautiful time to be on the Chesapeake is at sunset. This piece is dedicated to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and all of those who are working to restore and protect the Bay. Recorded by James Barr, guitar.
This is a true story.... When Nancy and I were on the Chesapeake in 2010 a complete tune suddenly came into my mind. I did not recognize it. So, I listened to the music and thought, "That's a really nice tune". After a few minutes I realized that it was one of mine -- Sunset On The Chesapeake. I wrote the tune many years ago and had forgotten about it. I was amazed by what happened. It was like the Chesapeake tapped me on the shoulder to remind me of this music. When I got home I found my original copy of it in my files. After making a couple of minor revisions, I sent the lead sheet to Jason Shapiro and it was included in the next batch of recordings he and the group (with Amy Leonard, E. Shawn Qaissaunee, and Peter McCarthy) made for me.
