Studio B was written for the music students at Sandy Spring Friends School in Maryland. It is a fairly conventional blues that can be played either slow and soulful or up-tempo and swinging. It starts with an Ellington flavor and quickly becomes more angular and Monkish. Studio B is the music classroom in the school's performing arts center where I worked with the SSFS jazz ensemble in a series of classes. Recorded by James Barr, guitar.
As an alternate version, here is a short ensemble demo recorded by David Arivett. It has a faster tempo than James Barr's recording.
