I was reflecting on how music has been a gift to me. At times I think of it as a language that enables me to express myself in a deeper way than I can with words. Many things in life are of interest to me and I have a natural curiosity. There are times when I am having a discussion with someone about life and I am told, "You should write a book". My reply is always the same, "All of this is in my music". I feel a deep happiness when people tell me they understand.
George Spicka made a recording of New Tango 6. His quartet performed this piece in an October 2015 concert at the An Die Musik club in Baltimore. The group is George Spicka, piano; Jim Stewart, guitar; Bruce Baggan, bass; and John Kessel, drums. I encouraged George to take the music in any direction he wanted to go with it. He used reharmonization in places and has other nice touches. The recording (a short version of the nine-minute performance) can be heard on the New Tango No. 6 page.
Several new things have been added to the Morgan County page on my website. A link to it is on the About page under Maryland and West Virginia.
James Barr made a new recording of Spring Beauties. This piece was recorded last year by Tom Puwalski, soprano saxophone, and Julius Fischer, piano. James' recording expresses his distinctive voice as a guitarist. Both recordings can be heard on the Spring Beauties page.
